BB guns are so dangerous that they’re considered firearms. In some areas with restrictive gun control, having them is considered a serious crime. The possession of certain firearms like handguns is legal in Indiana, so whoever had those BB pellets wasn’t committing a crime ordinarily.
But they crossed the line when they decided it would be fun to shoot pellets on a harmless dog. Apart from the fact that it was a serious violation of animal rights, it was also a violation of the law. In fact, certain types of animal cruelties are seen as felonies and this particular case didn’t seem too far off.
